um, i haven't read the book but not using dialouge is a kind of style. as for the chapters there could be no really good places to add big brakes like chapters, they divide up the story
Its unorganized,just like the world the boy and father are in.
To give that book the charatizations that the father and the boy have. No settled life.
I believe that he does that because the story just flows through its like a life time journey and adventure
